Coffee is so delicious. As Brother Job in Honduras says, “God made coffee purely for our enjoyment!” Resurrection Coffee Honduras and Crossroads Costa Rica Coffee are especially delicious. Today in our home, sadly, we were out of both selections and had to reach deep into the back of the cupboard for some store-brand coffee. I’m here to tell you, IT’S NOT THE SAME!
Store-brand coffees, and even popular brands roasted in large batches, often lack the rich flavor that fresh, small-batch-roasted coffees like Resurrection Coffee Honduras and Crossroads Costa Rica Coffee have to offer. Careful farming practices, attention during harvest, and specific roasting techniques bring out the smooth chocolatey and nutty flavors of Resurrection Coffee Honduras and the fruity notes of Crossroads Costa Rica Coffee that awaken your taste buds!
With our selections, you can enjoy fresh coffee from the farm to your cup! We know the farmers, we know the techniques, and we do the roasting!
So, what do the letters ABCDE & H have to do with your morning coffee?
This week, I had the pleasure of traveling to Kearney, Nebraska, with Job Gamez, a missionary and coffee farmer from Honduras. What a pleasure it is to know somebody who is so passionate about fulfilling God’s calling and purpose for his life.
Job shared with us what the purchase of Resurrection Coffee Honduras helps accomplish, using the letters ABCDE. Here it is:
A is for Agriculture. God is using a demonstration farm to teach subsistence farmers how to farm sustainably and provide for their families.
Farms can be found on steep mountainsides with shallow soil, making farming difficult. The demonstration farm simulates all of the struggles that farmers will face and teaches them best practices for successful farming. The ministry is also providing five laying hens to families. Job describes laying hens as some of God’s most productive creatures, capable of laying an egg a day! Many children experience stunted growth and delayed development because of a lack of protein. Through the laying hen program, families have access to protein needed for a healthy life.
B is for Business Development. Farmers are learning to take their products, such as eggs, vegetables, and yes, even coffee, to market to provide a source of income! Did you know that many Honduran subsistence farmers live on an income of only $15-$25 per month depending on work availability? With this income many are feeding their family of 7-10 people.
C is for Classroom. Children receive backpacks and school supplies, making education more accessible. Many children cannot attend school because their families cannot afford the supplies. Through these efforts, children can receive their first new backpacks and supplies. Education can set the course of their lives on a new path!
D is for Drinking Water. The ministry in Honduras provides water filters to families so they can have safe, clean drinking water. Without filters, people may drink water contaminated with bacteria from sources such as potholes in the ground.
God has given Job and his team the opportunity to enter families’ homes and install water filtration systems that can last for years and filter over a million gallons of water. The team has also helped repair broken hydrants in some communities. This is a game changer for those communities! Being able to enter these families’ homes brings us to the letter E.
E is for Evangelism. All of these efforts lead to the most important effort: sharing the Gospel. Job and his team faithfully preach God’s Word and invite people into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ! People are being born again, baptized, and attending church faithfully. We have heard reports from Job of people walking for miles and spending hours traveling to attend church! As Job says, “Only God can give somebody the desire to walk one and a half hours to attend church!” Praise God!
ABCDE describes the work happening in Honduras, and what I’ve shared in this blog only scratches the surface. You can learn more by visiting Job’s YouTube channel.

This brings us to the letter H. Crossroads Mission Avenue in central Nebraska is partnering with Keith Berns at Green Cover Seed in Bladen, Nebraska, and Job from God Makes It Grow in Honduras to purchase coffee grown on the farm.
With the help of Green Cover Seed, the coffee is imported and shipped to our facility in Hastings, Nebraska. It is then taken to LD Coffee Roasters, also in Hastings, where they graciously lease us equipment and space in their state-of-the-art roasting facility so we can provide you with a delicious, fresh product.
H is for Homeless Outreach. Your coffee purchase provides financial support for homeless shelter services in central Nebraska that serve nearly 1,200 people each year, including men, women, and families. That work, along with what’s happening in Costa Rica, will be covered in future blog posts.
Be encouraged, friends! By enjoying a fresh bag of Resurrection Coffee Honduras or Crossroads Costa Rica Coffee, you are supporting three ministries located in Honduras, Costa Rica, and central Nebraska. God is using those resources to grow His kingdom.
